Among the issues that contribute to this poor score is the lack of training for staff, lack of clear channels of communication, and lack of a hierarchy of command structure that causes the incivility in the workplace safety. Identify two things that surprised you about the results. Also, identify one idea that you believed before conducting the Assessment that was confirmed. The two things that surprised me during the assessment were the lack of mentoring and training in a healthy work environment, yet they are the key issues that promote a safe workplace environment. Before I conducted this workplace environment assessment, I had confidence in the level of safety measures put in place at my workplace. I believed that the organizations had implements all the necessary workplace safety guidelines and standards (Marshall & Broome, 2017). My assumption on this state of affairs was based on the safety awareness strategies and measures that the organization has been emphasizing in the past, especially given that most of the staff are experienced. I still believe that this position reflects the true state of affairs at the organization. What do the results of the Assessment suggest about the health and civility of your workplace? Based on the result of my work environment assessment, my place of work can be said to be unsafe with little civility, which makes it unhealthy for employees (Marshall & Broome, 2017). Perhaps, this state of affairs explains the high rate of stress and employee turnover at the organization. Briefly describe the theory or concept presented in the article(s) you The 2011 conceptual theory explains how higher stress levels, superiority complex, lack of skills and knowledge, as well as work overload can contribute to incivility (Marshall & Broome, 2017). © 2018 Laureate Education Inc. 2 selected. Explain how the theory or concept presented in the article(s) relates to the results of your Work Environment Assessment. Explain how your organization could apply the theory highlighted in your selected article(s) to improve organizational health and/or create stronger work teams. Be specific and provide examples. General Notes/Comments This theory is directly associated with my work environment in that it attempts to demonstrate how high stress contributes to the incivility that I am currently experienced in my working environment (Marshall & Broome, 2017). Besides, this theory explains how frustration among staff is caused by the lack of knowledge and skills to manage and resolve a conflict between employees and the management or their peers. The organization can apply this theory by providing training sessions to its staff so that they can gain knowledge and skills in effective communication. The training should also equip the staff with conflict resolution and problem-solving skills so that they can address uncertainties which may result in feeling that they have inadequate training. An example of how the organization can effectively implement this theoretical concept is by establishing a training and mentoring program that would allow new employees to provide feedback on their progress with the training session. The staff should also be assigned a mentor who can guide them during the training program so that they can demonstrate proper triaging. During the training session, the organization would possibly conduct an assessment of the state of workplace safety and then document the findings for future implementations (Marshall & Broome, 2017).
