1.  You had a Western Bacon with cheese, a large order of French fries, and a 12 oz milk shake for lunch at 12 noon.  You did not eat or drink anything except water after that until the next day at 10 AM.  Describe the sequence of events that goes on in your body in that 22 hours.   For the first hour:  talk about what is happening in your body after you eat that meal?  What is the process of digestion and absorption of the macronutrients?  What enzymes and hormones are at work?  What pathways are going to be activate and turned off?  How do the pathways an organs/tissues work together to handle that load of food?  Use these questions to help you answer the sequences of events below:  For the next 2 hours after that, what is going on in your body?  Metabolism of nutrients? Hormones? Tissues/pathways?   For the next 3 hours after that?  What is going on at 5 to 6 hours after that?  10 hours after the lunch and over night?   When you wake up at 6 AM the next morning until you eat again at 10AM?      2.  You decided to run a 10K (6.2 miles) race and you have not been training for it and it will take you about 2 hours.  Describe what is going to happen in your body in its fuel use during different times of the run as you run at a pace of 3 miles per hour.  Think of the nutrients, tissues, pathways, hormones, etc. that are going to be involved in the first 10 minutes, at one hour, and at 1:45 min into the race.
