Although I have made the order “rewriting”, I think it’s more of an editing process, but I want to give my editor a free range.  This is my answer to one of the prompts of the UC transfer application. I have also put the question on the draft paper. And this is the question: 2.     Describe how you have taken advantage of a significant educational opportunity or worked to overcome an educational barrier you have faced. I don’t intend to put any quotes or sources. The prompt has a 350-maximum word count and I have 345 words in, so I need help with putting in a sentence or two. I also need help with tying my answer to the question better at the end. And pointing out any wordiness will be appreciated. I also want a 100-word comment on how my answer makes you feel, and what could be better elaborated if you pretend like you are an admission officer, and then make a suggestion or edit on the draft.  To clarify, my answer to the prompt has to have 350 words maximum. The comment I request is 100 or less and will be on top of 350 word count, so the end product will be 450 word count maximum. I have put down a 100 words for the comment, and the more the merrier.

Your aim should be to inform and persuade your audience of the importance of the STI curriculum. Sufficient detail should be included to be persuasive.

2 pages each one see attached #1 In this week’s reading we hear from three different perspectives on the purpose and importance of higher education in the USA. The writers lay out what they believe as far as the worth of a college education and the place of higher education in the lives of individuals and within the larger scope of American society. What do you believe? Why is college important? Considering what you believe, how should higher education change in the future? Consider different aspects of college. How should access to college change? Should we change what students are required to study? Should the style of education change? How about the way students are evaluated? You may even wish to consider the educational experience before college.  #2 In this week’s reading, we discover Carl Rogers’s ideas on communication. This includes his statement that when emotion is most present it is also most difficult to see things from another perspective. Using either your personal experience or  a current issue and explore how strong emotions can get in the way of understanding people with opposing views.

In order to effectively choose a curriculum approach, you must have the knowledge base regarding curricular approaches, an understanding of your own core beliefs about children, and your image of yourself as a professional. Much of how you approach choices related to curriculum relates to the assumptions and internalized values you bring to your particular school or center (Jaruszewicz, 2013, section 2.4). An important step in this process is connecting what you know about curriculum approaches and how this information fits into your core beliefs. As Jaruszewicz (2013) posits, excellent teachers and caregivers are “reflective” and purposefully think about the curriculum decisions they make and their teaching practices (section 1.5). This journal is a start in that reflective process.-Describe the major differences between an approach and a model.-Compare and contrast the effectiveness of multiple early childhood curricular approaches to your own beliefs by completing the Matrix for Reflection chart.Explain how making these comparisons supports your ability to make appropriate curricular decisions (i.e., respond to the unique needs of children based on culture and experiences, consider developmentally appropriate practice, etc.).

Wittgenstein hated living and working at Cambridge University.  He especially didn’t like the constant chatter about ethics and politics that is associated with college life, both back then and today.  Whenever he could, he would leave to faraway places: a fjord in Norway, a cottage in western Ireland, and so on. Both of these tendencies sharply contrast with Plato’s depiction of Socrates — he loved to talk about ethics and politics, and he never left Athens.  How would Plato respond to Wittgenstein’s view of philosophy?  Write a paper imagining how Socrates would respond to Wittgenstein’s behavior: pretend that they somehow met and spoke the same language.

The layout of this paper is as follows: Introduction (2 pages) —Introduce to the overall documentary: Provide a brief overview of the settings, including: population, setting etc… Discussion (2 pages) —Discuss what you found most interesting, what you learned through your investigations. Describe strengths and differences of each setting and between settings. Illustrate your assertions with specific examples from your observations, as well as explicit reference to coursework. Discuss how your observations of children, parents, & their interactions, of environments, etc. inform your understanding of class readings, films, & discussions – and vice versa – how did our coursework guide your understanding of what you observed in classroom? Discuss how observing understanding of each different culture. Reflections (1-2 pages) (personal connections of observations/ perspectives of the different cultures and parenting strategies.

Consider the advantages and disadvantages of online education and education in a traditional classroom setting. Which method of learning is better for students? Write an essay in which you try to persuade a classroom teacher that either online or classroom learning is best.
