Article One of the United States Constitution establishes the legislative branch of the federal government, the United States Congress. This assignment is designed to encourage you to relate your learning in human development to “real-life” issues faced by people.  You will select one of the “life circumstances” that follows (for example: “your child is diagnosed with ADHD”).  Once you have your life circumstance, you are to research in-depth how it will affect your development.  When appropriate, focus on the challenges facing you as a parent or educator, and facing your child. (for example, if your child is diagnosed with ADHD, what affect does this have on the entire family?  How does it affect your child’s social development, intellectual development, emotional development, etc?).Your project should be 8—10 pages not including cover sheet and reference page, typewritten, double-spaced, one-inch margins, referenced in APA format, and written in first person.  It will be important to incorporate a current literature review (this means no sources more than 10 years old, unless it is a classic source).  Remember, this is a research paper, not an opinion paper, and sources should be cited within your paper.  Other appropriate references include books, reasonable websites, and personal interviews.  This project is worth 100 points.

After viewing the assigned materials, answer the following questions as three separate posts. 1. Why do you think migrants and prostitutes are particularly at risk to be trafficked due to coercion and exploitation? 2. Why? 4) Do the managers of Russell Athletics have a different obligation to factory employees than the managers at H&M, Inditex and Walmart? Why or why not? Note that Questions 1 and 4 have objective ‘correct’ responses; Questions 2 and 3 can be considered more opinions that require substantiation.

What factors might a court consider in determining what is “reasonable” or unduly burdensome (a “hardship?”) Are these factors the same in every situation, or must they adapt to the particulars of a situation?

The paper should specifically examine the requirements for becoming a police officer, but may also consider other criminal justice jobs such as probation officers, officers of the court, and correction officers (especially if you intend to seek employment in one of those fields). The paper should examine the process as it currently exists and its effectiveness. What personal characteristics are desirable? Which should be avoided? How can they be identified? Do (and should) potential employers consider criminal history? Drug use? Credit? Driving record? Academic records? Mental Health? Personal references? The paper should give an overview of the process, and your position on that process, ie., is it effective? too lenient or strict? If you were in charge, how would you ensure you are hiring quality employees?
